1.Introduction
Rain Tracker ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is a weather application that provides hyperlocal rain forecasts. The App is free to use and offers an optional paid subscription ("Rain Tracker Premium"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use the App and the choices you have. By installing or using Rain Tracker, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We keep data collection to a minimum. Rain Tracker does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or other personal contact details in order to check the forecast.
2.Information Collection and Use
Your in-app data — including your settings, saved locations, and preferences — is stored locally on your device and is not collected or stored by us. This information remains on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall it.
The App uses a small number of third-party services that may collect information used to operate and improve the App:
- Weather data providers (OpenWeatherMap, Open-Meteo, RainViewer) — receive the coordinates of the location you request a forecast for, in order to return weather data and radar imagery. See "Location Data" below.
- Google Firebase Analytics — aggregate usage data such as screens viewed and app interactions. Analytics may derive an approximate (city-level) location from your IP address. This helps us understand how the App is used and improve it.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — crash logs and diagnostic information (such as device model, operating system version, and the state of the App at the time of a crash), used to find and fix bugs and improve stability.
- Google Firebase Remote Config — delivers configuration settings to the App (for example, feature settings) using a randomly generated installation identifier.
- Adapty — manages in-app subscriptions. Adapty processes your purchase history, subscription status, and device identifiers so that your Premium access works and can be restored across reinstalls.
- Google Play Billing — processes all payments. We never receive or store your credit card number or other payment credentials.
The free tier of the App shows ads through Google AdMob; Rain Tracker Premium removes all ads. We do not sell your personal information.
3.Location Data
The App can use your device's GPS location to show the forecast for exactly where you are. Location access is requested only with your permission and works as follows:
- Your coordinates are used solely to fetch weather data for your position;
- Coordinates are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) to the weather data providers listed above so they can return the relevant forecast and radar imagery;
- Your location is not stored on our servers;
- You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings (Settings → Apps → Rain Tracker → Permissions);
- If you prefer not to grant location access, you can search for a city manually and use the App without GPS.
4.Purchases and Subscriptions
Payments for Rain Tracker Premium are processed entirely by Google Play using the payment method attached to your Google account. We do not see or store your payment details. To operate the subscription service, our service provider Adapty receives and stores a record of your purchases (such as the product purchased, price, currency, and subscription status) together with app-generated identifiers. This information is used to verify and maintain your Premium entitlement and for aggregate revenue analytics; it is not used for advertising and is not sold.
5.Log Data
Whenever you use the App, in the case of an error or for normal operation, data and information (through third-party products and our servers) may be collected. This "Log Data" may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the App, the time and date of your use, and other statistics. This data is used to deliver content and to diagnose and fix problems.
6.Identifiers
The App itself does not use cookies. The third-party services above use device or app identifiers — such as a randomly generated app-instance ID, installation IDs, and (where available) the Android advertising ID — to operate their services. On the free tier, the App shows advertising from Google AdMob, which may use the advertising ID to serve and measure ads; Rain Tracker Premium subscribers see no ads. You can reset or delete the advertising ID, or limit its use, in your device's privacy settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
7.Service Providers
We may employ third-party companies and services to facilitate the App, to provide the service on our behalf, to perform service-related functions, or to help us analyze how the App is used. These third parties have access to limited data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

8.Data Retention and Deletion
Analytics and crash data is retained by our service providers for a limited period (for Firebase Analytics, user-level data is retained for up to 14 months by default) and is then deleted or aggregated. Purchase records are retained for as long as needed to provide your subscription and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
Data stored locally on your device (settings, saved locations, preferences) is deleted when you clear the App's data or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App stops all data collection. You may also request deletion of data associated with your device's identifiers by contacting us (see "Contact Us" below).
9.Security
All data transmitted by the App is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). We value your trust in using Rain Tracker and strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
10.Links to Other Sites
The App may contain links to other sites or services. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
11.Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to anyone under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with such information, we will take the necessary action to remove it.
12.Weather Data Accuracy
Forecasts, radar imagery, and rainfall data shown in the App are estimates produced by third-party weather providers and are provided for general informational purposes only. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or delayed, and should not be relied upon for safety-critical decisions.
13.Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
